Growth mindset goal setting is about learning. Growing. Improving. It’s about becoming your best self in the context of whatever it is you’re doing.
The sun hasn’t quite risen as I start this post here in the parking lot of the school.
Today starts the second week of the year. Since December 28, the one percent better challenge I’ve undertaken has been fun. I can tell I’m improving.
This week, I want to make significant progress on finishing my first big course. It’s called the Structured Scaling System. To do that, I’m dedicating one hour per day on that task. Time management and focus.
Speaking of courses, I want to lay out the framework for my fitness course. It, of course (pun not intended), will be the Metabolic Mayhem Solution.
Additionally, I’m going to expand content creation to Instagram. I’ve done that in fits and starts, but now I want to focus on it.
That said, I am starting a video course presented by Casey Neistat today. I’m pretty geeked up about it. I want to get good at video, and everyone knows he is the man. Like I said, always try to learn from the best. That is growth mindset goal setting.
From an education standpoint, I’m going to look at ClientKit from Traffic and Funnels. They seem to promote the organic marketing angle that I like. I’ll set aside 30 minutes for that course each day.
Finally, I’d like to get recertification in Google Analytics. I’d also like to finish all my Digital Marketer certifications. Those will be my “monthly” goals for January.
As far as what I expect to finish this quarter, I will finish two books (the goal is going to be 50,000 words each). I’ll learn enough to make sure they both hit the Amazon Bestseller list. I’ll also launch both the Structured Scaling System and The Metabolic Mayhem Solution to coincide with the books.
On the business front, I’ll set up my Management By Fact documents for each business segment. Those a documents that help me stay focused on the data to grow the companies. Another example of a growth mindset goal.
It’s important to set clear goals. From here, I’ll backward plan into them to make sure I can hit the targets. I start by asking “What was I doing in the moment before I hit my goal?”
And then, “What was I doing in the moment before that?”
“And in the moment before that one?”
I do that all the way back to the present.
Also, I break down the goals into consumable metrics. For example, how many words per day do I need to write? And how many certifications do I have left and how much time do I need to set aside to hit that target? Which courses do I need to take to know how to become an Amazon Bestseller? Again, growth mindset goal setting.
Once you’ve backward planned into the goal, you know the exact next steps to take to reach them. With near 100% accuracy.
The journey begins!
This morning, I’m grateful for a good night’s sleep. I shoot for 8 hours per night. Some nights it takes longer to fall asleep than others. But last night, I went right to sleep. And It was fantastic. As a result, I woke up this morning rested and motivated.
In addition, I’m grateful for my own growth mindset goal setting. I like to tackle obstacles head-on. And I love challenges. Because I see them as opportunities. When every challenge is an opportunity, the world really is your oyster.
Finally, I’m grateful for the heat in my basement. Since before we went on Christmas vacation, the heat has been out down here. And down here is where I work. No more shivering and bulky sweat shirts. I’m back to flip-flops!
Now, go out with your growth mindset, set goals, and achieve great things!
